1. Log into your SCU GMAIL first and make sure to set your IMAP settings and Security settings.

        IMAP settings
  1. In the top right, click Settings Settings.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Click the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.
  4. In the "IMAP Access" section, select Enable IMAP.
  5. Click Save Changes.


       Security Settings

  1. In the very top right corner, click on your SCU picture.
  2. Click My Account.
  3. Click link Sign-in & Security > .
  4. Scroll down to "Allow Less Secure Apps:OFF" , slide to enable to ON.

Information that pertains to SCU GMAIL IMAP settings

Auto Account Setup (example):

  • Your Name: Joe User
  • E-Mail Address: juser@scu.edu
  • Password: <SCU gmail password>
  • ReType Password: <SCU gmail password>

Manually configure server settings or additional server types

Internet E-Mail Settings:

  • User Information
  • Your Name: Joe User
  • E-Mail Address: JUser@scu.edu

Server Information:

  • Account Type: IMAP
  • Incoming Mail Server: imap.gmail.com
  • Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.gmail.com

Logon Information

  • User Name: juser@scu.edu
  • password: <SCU gmail password>
  • place check mark by Remember password.

Click on More Settings button:

  • Outgoing Server:
  • Place Check mark on My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication 
  • Use same setting as my incoming mail server 


  • Incoming server (IMAP): 993
  • Use the following type of encrypted connections (SSL)
  • Outgoing server (SMTP) 465
  • Use the following type of encrypted connection (SSL)
  • Click on OK
