Office 365 EDU is now called Microsoft 365 EDU. This application suite is available to all registered students currently attending Santa Clara University as well as faculty and staff. Microsoft 365 EDU is only to be installed on your personal computer. As a registered student of Santa Clara University, your Microsoft 365 EDU license starts on the day you are officially registered as a student and ends on the day of your graduation.

Any inquiries about your account (i.e. SCU Gmail email address) that you created on Microsoft's Office portal site can be directed to the IT Service Center at 408-554-5700 or via email,

Please note, Law Technology cannot reset any passwords for Microsoft portal accounts so you must contact the main University IT Service Help Desk  at 408-554-5700.

Please be advised that once you have graduated from Santa Clara University, your copy and license of Microsoft 365 (SCU licensed) will be degraded and/or disabled after your graduation date. For recent SCU Law grads that are preparing for the bar, please review this video to learn what happens to your SCU network access after commencement. You must plan accordingly and make sure to back up your data from any online storage areas (One Drive) before your graduation date. If you wish to continue with a subscription to Microsoft Office, then purchase your commercial copy at Microsoft

WARNING: While Microsoft Office 365 EDU still has Microsoft Teams included in their basic install package. SCU has not enabled a site license to use Microsoft Teams and does not support Microsoft Teams. SCU, instead, recommends you use SCU Google Workspace Meet for small peer-to-peer meetings, and/or Zoom as your primary for web conferencing sessions, webinars, and/or distance learning classes. Register, Install, and Activate Microsoft (Office) 365 EDU

Register within your MySCU dashboard. If you are register with SCU and/or are a SCU employee, then you are already have an Office 365 EDU account. 

Staff/Faculty: Please note that Office 365 EDU can only be installed on your personal computer and not on any University-assigned devices.

Verify Office 365 EDU portal account by clicking on the Office 365 tile and then entering your Single Sign-on credentials. Also if prompted, then authenticate using Duo 2FA.

Download and install Microsoft 365 EDU: After successfully logging into your Microsoft 365 portal account, click on the "install Office" button to download the Microsoft "Office 365 apps " install file for your OS, currently Mac OS or Windows 10 only. It will detect your OS and download the appropriate install file.

After you have downloaded the install file, find the install file on your local drive and run the install file.

Activate your copy of Microsoft 365 EDU: Once you have successfully installed Office 365 EDU, run any application (Word, Excel, or PowerPoint) and sign in with your Single Sign-on credentials (same as your MySCU portal credentials). If prompted, then authenticate using Duo 2FA.
